Conasauga River Trail - short milage, rough trail

Details

Let's spend Memorial Day weekend in the Cohutta Wilderness of Georgia! The Conasauga River Trail is a very rough, unimproved trail that crosses back and forth across the river many times. There is a LOT of deadfall, and the trail is unmarked and basically unmaintained after the first mile, it's more of just a general route following the river.

Meeting at 10:30 central, 11:30 eastern. The plan is to do roughly 10-12 river crossing on Saturday (maybe 3 miles) and then find somewhere to camp. Sunday do whatever, either day hike farther down the trail, trout fish in the river, or just hang out and swim. Monday hike back out.

Please no younger children, and dogs only if they love the water and are strong swimmers.

Hiking poles for stability crossing the river are recommended. bring swim wear for playing in the water at camp. Make sure everything important in your backpack is in a dry bag in case you take an unintentional plunge (probably going to happen). Please pack as light as possible, you won't regret it. Carpooling recommended if possible.

Hope to see you on the trail!
