Overnight Backpack: Frozen Head State Park

Forecast temperatures look awesome for this coming weekend, so let's do even better with some elevation at Frozen Head State Park (we'll be at 3200'). We'll meet at 12:00 pm central time at the Big Cove overnight parking lot. We'll hike the Lookout Tower Trail to Tub Springs Campsite, approx. 6 miles with over 2000' of elevation gain. (Route can be optional if you're comfortable self-navigating). We'll do a side excursion Saturday afternoon to the lookout tower on top of Frozen Head Mountain. We'll hike down the South Old Mac Trail to Big Cove on Sunday morning and back to our vehicles.

This trip is for experienced backpackers or conditioned beginners familiar with the distance and elevation gain involved. This will be a "go at your own pace" hike, so come prepared with a map and an understanding of the route.
