Our trip starts out on Cooper Road Trail, which was once the main access to Cades Cove for settlers, farmers, and loggers! This trail walks through a blended Forest of white pines, white oaks, hemlocks, and rhododendrons. 5.7 miles in we junction with Hatcher Mountain Trail, we turn to the left onto Hatcher Mtn. This trail continues to walk through a blended forest for about 2.6 miles before junctioning with Little Bottoms Trail. We turn to the right onto Little Bottoms Trail and follow it for a little over a half of a mile before arriving at Campsite #17 (Little Bottoms).
Day 2 starts with a hike upstream about 2.25 miles to the famous Abram’s Falls and a swimming opportunity. We then backtrack about 1.5 miles to a creek crossing and follow Hannah Mountain Trail for about 2 miles to the trail junction with Rabbit Creek Trail in Scott Gap. There is supposed to be a Tuliptree in the vicinity of this trail junction that has a circumference of 13 ft. We turn to the left onto Rabbit Creek Trail and descend to Campsite #15(Rabbit Creek) for our second night.
Day 3, we have a 4.1 mile hike to the Abram’s Creek trailhead that has a pretty descent climb (about 800 feet over the first 2 miles). Once at Abram’s Trailhead we connect over to Cooper Road Trailhead using Wet Bottom Trail!
