Here is his description: "Passive vs. Active Voice
At this meetup, we'll discuss the definitions and use of passive and active voice, a distinction that can have a considerable impact on the tone, energy, and effectiveness of your writing.

This subject, which turns up in every grammar book and style guide, is broader and more controversial than you might think. Potential topics for this meetup's presentation include:
- Definitions and examples of passive and active voice
- Why they say to avoid passive voice
- Why they say to go ahead and use passive voice
- Abuses of passive voice
- Editing from passive to active voice
It might be fun to have a quick survey of how different grammar books describe this distinction. Bring one if you have one, and we'll see what yours has to say."

We are meeting at the Front Porch, the gift shop located in the Ogburn House on the Scarritt-Bennett campus at the corner of 19th Avenue South & Grand Avenue.

The Front Porch is basically a public coffeehouse situation. There are two rooms available. We can meet outside or we can meet inside, depending on the weather.

We can support the Front Porch by having a cup of coffee, tea, soft drink or smoothie.

There is free parking behind the Front Porch with two parking lots.
