The national NWU union office has obtained a bus to come from NYC to assist members attend the Climate Change March. A report will be presented outlining this effort.

The local Philadelphia Chapter has been invited to give a presentation at the Art Sanctuary event, Saturday, May 13th, 2017, at the African American History Museum, 7th and Arch Sts. (see the Meetup listing for further information for this).

The NWU will meet to further plan the business to be presented at the National Executive Board meeting in May, 20th, 2017, in NYC, NY, and to view progress on the forum planned to be held at the Paul Robeson House and Museum, with Professor Gerald Horne presentating the Effects of the Enslavement on the Present: a Current Events Conversation.

A report on the May Day Committee Event, the Phildelphia AFL-CIO Degelates Meeting, the AFL-CIO Political Committee, the NWU-UAW COPE political committee, and other solidarity actions will be planned, especially regarding the federal government attempt to move the copyright office functions to a political base.

Also, Pennsylvania has a number of bills to be voted upon which will move union rights to not exist if passed. In Pennsylvania, if the present governor is not reelected, Pennsylvania will become a "Right to Work" state, which for writers will mean a reduction in pay for each word written or for each of our other creations we may produce. These we must fight.

Members and friends with specific situations to be sent to the NWU National office for representation will be explained.

All are welcome to attend. There is no fee to attend the Steering Committee or other committee meetings.
