Native American Teachings

"I've been building hand drums for over 25 years and have helped many people create their own sacred. It is a process I believe in especially when the reason to build the drum is for ceremony. As I help you physically create your drum, I also talk about drum use, traditional drum circle etiquette, technique, styles and songs. I like to meet with participants after their drums are ready for play (allow a minimum 5 days) to wake them up to a spiritual life in a traditional drum circle."

Octagonal drum investment is $200 ($140 for materials deposit, $60 tuition + shop fee payable at class). Round drum investment is $230 ($170 for materials deposit, $60 tuition + shop fee payable at class)

Rick McBride is mixedblood Ani'yunwi'ya (Cherokee) who has actively walked the Red Road for over 40 years. He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh: Red Heart) by the Spirits through his sundance Intercessor. He is a 21-year sundancer, his " hocoka" is in South Dakota. The Ikce Wicasa Tiospaye (Ik-chee We-cha-sa Tee-oh-shpay, IWT) is a 501c3 non-profit organization. The IWT offers traditional initi (sweat lodge) ceremony and other teachings. Dreamcatcher workshop Native American style starts at 12:00pm with Rick McBride; $45 includes materials. Deposit of $20 for materials is REQUIRED. Zelle to 954-270-8939. Tuition is due at the beginning of the workshop.

You will learn the weave on a five inch metal hoop. After you learn the weave, you will construct a more traditional dreamcatcher on a natural vine hoop.

With practice, you will be able to weave a dreamcatcher inside virtually any enclosed space, natural and otherwise. Bring feathers, drilled stones, or other small drilled objects to embed inside your dreamcatcher. These are thoughtful sacreds (in that they share your energy) that make purposeful gifts.

This workshop is presented by Rick McBride, a mixedblood Cherokee. He is a 20 year sundancer who leads ceremonies locally and elsewhere.
