Native American Persimmons (not a good fruit year, but some likely), along with a Nature/Plant walk/hike/talk. After gathering some persimmons (bring paper towels, small PLASTIC bag & water to wash the them & hands), I’ll lead a farther walk to see what else of interest we may find, likely Black walnut (bring large PLASTIC bag & gloves if wish to collect).

Important - The walk leader is severely allergic / chemically sensitive to fragrances, petrochemicals, etc., do not wear perfumes/colognes, scented sunscreen, or other scented personal care products; or use any bug spray or sunscreen.

Note: This Meetup group will be closing after this walk and "transferring" to Facebook at: Foraging & Natural History walks in Montgomery County, Maryland & Environs (Meetup has increased its charge to host a Meetup group to over $350 per year, that is not sustainable for me).

Location: Black Hill Regional Park, 20930 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds, Maryland 20841 (upper Montgomery County).
Meet in the parking lot for the Visitors’ Center / Nature Center for Black Hill Regional Park, toward the far end of the parking lot from the Visitors' Center.

Pace - naturalist shuffle to normal walking pace.
Children (w/ their parents) are welcome as long as they are old enough to do the walk/hike.
Walk will be mostly on paved path and grass with some in woods.
However, long pants and closed toed shoes or hiking boots recommended.

Directions to Park: I-270 to exit 16 (Father Hurley Blvd / Ridge Rd / Rte. 27) toward MD-27 E/Damascus, left MD-355 N (Frederick Road) 0.9 mile left onto W Old Baltimore Rd, left Lake Ridge Dr. into the park.

Bring hat (for both sun & any problems with gnats/flies), & water. Optional: field guides, camera.

Inclement weather - the walk will be rescheduled for Sunday in the event of forecasted rain/inclement weather, notice of reschedule / cancellation will be sent to those who RSVP’d and posted on the Meetup group site by 9:00 am the day of the walk.
