Tolay Lake east of Petaluma is Sonoma County's largest Regional Park and home to a large number of raptors and other birds. Golden Eagles have nested there in the past and I could always spot them on every visit to the park, even recently. In addition, there are dozens of other species that include Harriers, Kestrels, and all sorts of passerine species. It's a wonderful spot to observe birds and wildflowers this season.
I will be walking with a small group of photographers and birders. You're welcome to sign up on the waiting list to join us if there's room. We will choose the pace and location based on the conditions.
There's only one entrance to Tolay Lake that you can find online. You can find us near the pay station. $7 entry fee unless you have a Regional Park pass.
