2-Night Weekend Camping Trip at Wawayanda State Park

Join us for a refreshing two-night camping trip at Wawayanda State Park to relax, connect with nature, and enjoy the early spring! Forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda creating a restful backdrop for canoeists, boaters, bikers, and fishermen, steep mountains challenge casual as well as serious hikers. The 19-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail runs through the park, while the top of Wawayanda Mountain offers sensational views. More than 60 miles of trails are marked in the park.

Itinerary Overview:
Day 1 (April 4):
Noon: Meet at the campground, set up tents, and get settled.
1:00 PM: Enjoy a lunch together at the campsite.
2:30 PM: Take a short hike on the Wawayanda Lake Loop Trail for scenic views and a light outdoor experience.
4:30 PM: Return to camp, start a campfire, and enjoy dinner together.
then social time around the fire—share stories, relax, and make new friends under the stars.

Day 2 (April 5):
9 AM: Breakfast at the campsite.
11:00 AM: Group hike on Stairway to Heaven Trail or a section of the Appalachian Trail for moderate challenging terrain and beautiful views.
4:00 PM: Relax and unwind at camp after the hike. Prepare dinner at camp.
7:00 PM: Campfire, stargazing, and more social time. Share experiences from the day and enjoy the peaceful setting of the forest.

Day 3 (Departure - April 6):
8:00 AM: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
9:00 AM: Pack up your gear, and tidy up the campsite.
10:00 AM: Optional short hike or nature walk around the campground or lake before departure.
Noon: Head home, feeling refreshed and with great memories.

The group site provides potable water, picnic tables, fire ring, restroom, and Plenty of parking space. Potable water is available at the park office (outside spigot) and the maintenance building (outside spigot). Quiet hours are observed between 10 pm and 6 am. Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted. Firewood may be purchased at the park office during business hours.

Whether you want to join group activities or relax at the campground, we welcome it. If you’re new to camping or hiking, we’ll provide support and guidance, and the group will have a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.

Need to Bring:
Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, cooking gear, and camping gear.
Hiking essentials: sturdy boots, daypack, water, snacks.
Food and water for the weekend.

This is a rain-or-shine event.

Fees: $25 per person for 2 nights and 3 days. We will split the cost of the firewood, or you can carry your own for two nights.
