Creatures of the Night
Details
Join long-time members and retired biologists Martha Zettel and Bill O’Neill for a casual evening on the porch, learning about the insects and bats that inhabit the late summer nights at BANC. We will have lots of examples to look at, as well as bat detectors and sound analysis software. If folks are motivated, we can set up a moth light and/or take a night walk down into the wetlands, but if you are happy sitting on the porch eating cookies and listening to the sounds change as darkness arrives, that is good too.
Bring a small flashlight, wear closed shoes, and be prepared for mosquitoes and ticks. PLEASE NOTE: bats do not fly in the rain, and bat detectors are not waterproof, so if it is rainy at all, we will use the rain date.
Registration is required so that we can notify you if we are postponing the event to the rain date.
