What we’re about

These gatherings are facilitated 1-1.5 hour sessions that include practices to connect to our senses, nature, and each other, to feel supported by our surroundings, and to give ourselves the gift of presence and openness.

What to expect:
Group welcome and introduction, games/connecting activities in the whole group and in smaller groups, somatic (body-based) practices to connect to our senses, sharing experiences, the organisers' passion and awe for living things. In terms of participation, everything is optional.
Why we do it:
To see nature/the outdoors / the places we're in as a source of support and co-regulation for our nervous systems. To see how we can also 'give back' to nature, so the relationship is reciprocal.
To explore the 'eco' (ecological ) self, as opposed to the 'ego' self. To see ourselves as living organisms connected to all other living organisms in a web of interdependence.
To create opportunities for people to meet each other outside (and outside!) of our daily and culturally normalised activities involving money, consumerism, 'networking' and 'small talk', and being online. To create offline community.
To nurture and explore our connection to our senses. To establish and maintain communication, language, and a relationship with our own bodies and feeling-awareness. Also, the presence, attention, and aliveness this can bring to our lives.
For the sake of fun and silliness. There will always be games/activities to help people have fun and forget about whatever impression of themselves they might be trying to manage :)

As this event is outdoors, please bring whatever you need to be comfortable if it rains or is hot/cold. There might not be a toilet nearby so make sure you have toileted before we start! There are public toilets in the park that attendees can go to at any time - they just might not be near where we are based. We have capped the numbers at 20 and the event takes place in a public place. Attendees can leave whenever they need or want to. We will state accessibility levels for each event (see below) - some locations will be wheelchair accessible and others will not be. This event is wheelchair accessible.
