What we’re about

Welcome to all our new members! We’re so glad you’re here!
This group is part of the life and outreach of Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis (MCCGSL). We’re a radically inclusive, queer-centered, and queer- and trans-led Christian community committed to justice, compassion, and belonging.

My name is Eli (he/him), and I’m the Outward Pastor at MCCGSL. That means I help and long to build spiritual communities beyond the church walls, where Spirit and Creation meet in a unique way. In this group, I hope to help us find connection with the Divine and with one another, through all of God’s creation.

Again, we’re so excited that you’ve joined us! To help us get to know you better (and plan activities that fit your interests), please take a moment to fill out this quick form: https://forms.gle/Ci5MeRdUKKRXq9N48.

What we do so far:

  • More rigorous hikes twice a month, more often than not they are the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month
  • A walking meditation once a month on the 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 8:00 a.m. in the Missouri Botanical Garden

What to expect on our hikes:
Our hikes and walks often include moments for meditation, a reading (usually a poem), communion, and shared discussion. Participation in communion and discussion is always optional. Our communion table is an open table, meaning that all are welcome to come as they are, believing as they do.

A few reminders about this space:
This group is an open, inclusive space centering LGBTQ+ folks, especially queer and trans people, who find spiritual connection through the outdoors. Everyone is invited to come exactly as they are no matter their gender, sexuality, or spiritual background (or lack thereof).

Whether you're a seasoned hiker, just getting started, or simply seeking queer joy in nature, we’d love to have you on the trails with us!
