What we’re about
This is a group for anyone in Dorset & Hampshire - or anywhere, who has a love primarily of nature & our scenery, but also now our history. We are blessed to have beautiful and unique natural environments on our doorstep from rare heathland, to rich estuaries, and even a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so there's so much to enjoy. Whether you are an expert or you just enjoy watching the birds in your garden and would like to know more, then come and join us.
I do believe Dorset is the best county for scenery, winter birds, summer butterflies, the Jurassic Coast, heathlands, woods, Poole Harbour, Weymouth, Portland, well, every habitat bar mountains and moorland.
We are now to include history, architecture, geology, anything really that may add interest on our walks and events. Primarily in Dorset, there is so much here, but we will stray to other counties. Do give our events a try, some are too shy, but you will be welcomed.
This site will now change, hope to include some local history walks, so if anyone knows or good sites, or knows anyone who can lead or jointly lead a walk, let me know. The second change is that events will be more short-notice, perhaps just a few days. I would like deputies on the walks but no one has really come forward. So, I do no longer wish to give dates far in the future, due to the commitment it imposes.

We are a friendly group of wildlife and natural world enthusiasts, and welcome new members. You do not need to attend any events, and we give regular updates, every week or so, on what is going on in Dorset, Hants and sometimes beyond.
We do appreciate feedback. This site is free (except when we ask a Professional along), but coffees and cakes will always be acceptable.
Please ask if you wish to bring a dog along on a particular event.
If anyone wishes to lead or co-lead an event, or if you know of a local historian or naturalist, then do not hesitate to ask, similarly, if you might wish to become the Organiser of the group, you will be more than welcome, or you just may wish to enquire. We welcome all suggestions for any events.
