Would you like to slow down in nature, notice more, and invite a sense of awe, calm, and wonder into your day?

Join us for a Nature Journaling adventure every third Sunday of the month! Each month, we explore a different natural gem within San Francisco, pausing to capture our observations, curiosity, and moments of joy in our journals — using words, pictures, and numbers.

Event Details
⛰️Location: San Bruno Mountain State & County Park
San Bruno Mountain, a significant natural landmark just south of San Francisco, California, is a biodiversity hotspot characterized by its unique geology and climate. These factors contribute to a unique ecosystem that supports rare and endangered species. Lichens on the mountain are important for their beauty, their ecological role, their value as indicators of environmental health, and the potential to discover unique species within this preserved landscape. We will focus on collectively exploring and learning more about Lichens.

Really cool deep dive on rare plants and geology of San Bruno Mountains by Dr. David Nelson : https://fb.watch/AlAOa27a-o/

🗓️ Date: July 20, 2025
🕐 Time: 1pm to 4pm

📓 What to Bring: A journal or sketchbook, writing and drawing/coloring supplies. Optional: magnifying lens (we might explore Lichens!), binoculars, a lightweight stool, and your curiosity!

📍Meeting Point: Main parking lot:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/iLpZusbPEWmj1a1R9

🚙 Parking: $6 fees at the gate, but it's worth it and there is plenty of parking. Public transport options : MUNI bus #43 and then a 30 minute walk.

💧Bring plenty of water, we did not spot a water fountain.

🚽 Restrooms: At the parking lot, we won't go too far from it

♿️ Accessibility: Plenty to explore around the parking lot (we will be here). Optional beautiful hiking trails if interested.

🌤️ Weather: we are on top of a hill, by SF bay so get plenty of layers. We have scoped out exploration area in between tall trees, but best to stay prepared - definitely get a wind breaker.

💰Cost: It's a free event, but we encourage 20$ donations to Wild Wonder Foundation https://www.wildwonder.org/donate
Come as you are — no experience needed, just a sense of wonder. We can’t wait to explore with you!
