Nature Nerds Explore Rockefeller State Park

Join us for a leisurely exploration of Swan Lake and the surrounding trails in Rockefeller State Park. Walk will be around 2 miles in length. We'll observe and identify birds, insects, fungi, plants, and whatever other fascinating wildlife we encounter along the way.

**Note this event has been changed from 10am to 11am start time to accomdate those who may not be early risers. Also, this park has a $6 parking fee during the day, so please take this into account when RSVPing.

Bring your curiosity, and download the iNaturalist app! Feel free to also bring binoculars, butterfly nets, or field guides to help with our exploration.

What to bring:

*Comfortable walking shoes or hiking footwear
*Water
*A snack
*Binoculars, butterfly net, hand lens, and/or field guides, if you have them.
*Paper and pencil - we will stop for 30 min to do a sketch at the end of the walk.

Children are welcome when accompanied by a participating adult.
Please leave dogs at home for this event. Our goal is to observe wildlife, and pets can unintentionally disturb or scare away many of the animals we're hoping to see.

Whether you're an experienced naturalist or simply curious about the world around you, all are welcome! We’ll move at a relaxed pace and learn from whatever nature has to offer.
