Nature Nerds Explore Brinton Brook Sanctuary

Start your Labor Day right with an early morning discovery of a special Audubon designated sanctuary here in Westchester - the Brinton Brook Sanctuary. Fall migration should start by this date so we should be able to catch some warblers, flycatchers and other birds starting to head south after completing their spring and summers up north.

This one will have a heavy focus on birds, so be sure to bring your binoculars. They are not necessary, but will make this walk much more enjoyable.

We will meet in the parking lot of the Foodtown in Croton and will carpool to Brinton Brook Sanctuary together. Their parking lot is very small and we want to allow for others to get access to the site in addition to our group. When you register, please let me know if you're open to having some folks ride with you to the sanctuary and back. It's a 3 minute ride.

What to wear:
Comfortable walking shoes or hiking footwear

Snacks
Binoculars (highly recommended)
Hand lens (optional)
Field guides (optional)

Please consider a $3 to $5 donation to attend this event. Funds will be used to cover Meetup costs and for purchasing additional equipment such as binoculars to lend out to participants.

Children accompanied by a participating adult are welcome!Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed. Our goal is to observe wildlife, and pets can unintentionally disturb or scare away many of the animals we're hoping to see.

Whether you're an experienced naturalist or simply curious about the world around you, all are welcome! We’ll move at a relaxed pace and learn from whatever nature has to offer.
