Oso Flaco Lake

Details
Oso Flaco lake is a hidden gem for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. Nestled in the Pismo dunes, this small lake is home to many birds, local and migratory. You can find a current list of birds here E-Bird list. The landscape is beautiful and it's an easy trail that goes out to the beach after crossing the catwalk and the dunes pathway. Occasionally, you can spot turtles and racoons.
There are many photography opportunities, so bring all your favorite lenses: Wide angle for landscapes, long lenses for birds in flight or wading in the lake, or macro for vegetation and bugs. You may want to bring a tripod or monopod as there will be opportunities to get the perfect shot of song birds and hummingbirds returning to the same perch.
The birds are active close to sunrise, and the sun gets pretty high by 9, so be there early or on-time to take advantage of good light if it's sunny.
There is a parking lot at the entrance to the park and a flat paved path to the catwalk. I believe parking is $5 for the day, there is a QR code on site to make a payment. Or you can park for free just outside the parking lot.
I look forward to seeing you there, and as always, I'll be available to help anyone new and to answer any questions. You can reach me at 8056105527
