New Brighton Park Work Party

Details

With the hot summertime temperatures, watering is taking on progressively more importance at New Brighton. As an example an Elegant Goldenrod was wilted and rather sorry at 10 am this morning (Jul 23) and with only 4 yoghurt containers of water was completely revived - what a difference! Most plants are not so wilted but the water cistern continues to be filled courtesy of the Vancouver Park Board so with a good turnout this Sunday we hope to water as many of the native perennial flowers and shrubs as possible.
We will empty the cistern for sure and should we have extra volunteers we will continue looking for individual transplants to clip around them for future watering. The hillock is looking great overall with transplants from multiple years expanding and spreading to create that pollinator meadow. Similarly most of the shrubs are doing well and spreading out to enhance the bird habitat.
If you are free, come and help. It will be hot but your contribution will make a huge difference.
Please email to RSVP or for exact location and more info.
