[POSTPONED] Street smarts: What we know (and don’t know) about raccoon cognition
Details
Unfortunately this event had to be postponed until fall.
Are you curious about rascally raccoons? Despite the common perception that raccoons are highly intelligent, formal investigation into raccoon behaviour and cognition is in its infancy. Join us on February 26 to delve into raccoon cognition with Hannah Griebling, a PhD candidate from the Animal Behavior and Cognition Lab in the Department of Forest & Conservation Sciences.
In this presentation, Hannah will discuss what we know about raccoon behavior and cognition, from sociality, to problem solving, to self control. She will also discuss how these cognitive and behavioral traits help raccoons adapt to urban life, and how our understanding of raccoon cognition can help us conserve other species in BC.
