Thursday is a hiking day for me. Yes, many people will be doing other things on this particular Thursday, but I'll be hiking. If you think this is a good day for hiking, then please join me!
10.1 miles, 1532 ft gain, kind of a loop.
We'll head out towards the Little Granite and gain 900 ft in 2.5 miles. It is shady and switchbacky, but I know I'll be ready to see the gate at the top!
We'll continue to loop around until we find the trail that will lead us to the Hotshots Alligator Juniper Memorial Tree. I've never gotten there this way, so this part will be a bit of exploring.
After we visit the tree, we'll complete our loop and head back to Metate. This part will be a gradual uphill.
I'm a fast hiker (3.4ish on east terrain, 3ish on harder terrain) but I won't leave anyone behind. I wait at intersections & honor requests for breaks. If you don't regularly hike 10 miles, then this probably isn't the hike for you.
