NNI is thrilled to collaborate with biologist Matthew Teutimez from the Laboratory for Indigenous Knowledge Systems for this botany walk. Learn about the resilient plant species native to our region and the importance of Traditional Ecological Knowledge in land stewardship. After the botany walk, we’ll do some drawing with walnut ink and charcoal sticks made from native and non-native plants.

  • Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  • Please wear comfortable walking shoes. We will be walking on paved and unpaved surfaces.
  • We meet in the very top parking lot at Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, but we will be walking throughout the park.
  • Notebooks and sketchbooks encouraged!

Spaces are limited!
**Please RSVP to amendiaperez@naturenexusinstitute.org**
