Welcome nature enthusiasts! Nature Nexus Institute offers fun outdoor activities for families and individuals - all are welcome! Join us on monthly nature hikes, habitat restoration events, library workshops, art & science activities all centered around exploring nature in LA. Locations include the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, Ballona Wetlands, Kenneth Hahn Recreation Area, Dockweiler Beach and more. We seek to provide equitable and intergenerational entry points to cultivating healthy community-nature relationships.

Please join us for a day of fun as we travel from the Baldwin Hills Library to the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve.

This is a FREE trip open to all families. We will provide transportation from the library and a guided hike throughout the Ballona Wetlands in Playa del Rey.
- The bus will pick us up in front of the Baldwin Hills Branch Library .
- Please arrive at 8:50am to check in and hop on the bus.
- We will be back by 2pm.
*Minors are required to be accompanied by parent or guardian*
WHAT TO BRING: Snacks for yourself and your family, water, sunscreen, and good walking shoes.
COST: This trip is absolutely FREE to all participants.
No dogs allowed for this event, as they cannot be on the bus or at the ecological reserve.

Join us at the Annenberg Community Beach House for a great morning of beach ecology and sketching!
Bring your sense of wonder and take to the sands to sketch nature’s offerings on our beautiful coastline. We’ll provide the binoculars, drawing boards, pencils and newsprint, or bring your own easy-to-carry sketching tools. Comfortable clothing and sun protection recommended.
The event wraps with a mini gallery walk where you can share your sketches with your newfound friends.

Getting Here: The Annenberg Community Beach House is located at 415 Pacific Coast Hwy. Parking is available for $3 per hour or $12 per day. Please pay for parking at the machine upon your arrival. Exact change cash and credit cards are accepted. Ample bike parking is available; please bring a lock.
Access: The Annenberg Community Beach House is wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. Two beach wheelchairs will be available for this activity.
