WELCOME EVERYONE
Join us for a 23km version of Arthur Lydiard's Waiatarua Run. Starting at 2 Croydon Road at 6:00am sharp, about 5 minutes before sunrise. Attendees must be regular runners and be fine to run 23km.
SUNDAY 9TH NOVEMBER
5:55am - Meet outside 2 Croydon Road, New Lynn.
6:00am - Sharp, start running.
No waiting for late comers.
I may run at a pace of 5:20/km.
It may take me 2.5 hours to run.
Run at your own pace.

THE ROUTE
* Study and understand the route.
* There are no markers showing you which way to go.
* We start in New Lynn, run via West Coast Road to Waiatarua, then back to New Lynn via Scenic Drive and Tirirangi Road.
* The route is mostly on footpaths next to roads.
DIRECTIONS
- Start at 2 Croydon Road, New Lynn, run north-west 800 metres.
- Turn left onto West Coast Road, run west 9.8km (ascent 283 metres).
- Turn left onto Scenic Drive, run south then east 9.2km (descent 170 metres).
- Take third exit onto Titirangi Road, run north 3.1km (descent 100 metres).
- Turn left onto Croydon Road, run 70 metres to 2 Croydon Road.
Total distance ~23km.
SAFETY
This is for regular runners only.
This if for regular runners who are fine to run 23km.
You may like to bring a hydration pack / runner's vest, mobile phone, water, food.
We will run on the footpath where possible.
Where there is no footpath we will run where and when it is safe.

You are welcome to offer a lift or ask for a lift in the comments section below.
If 1 passenger, please give driver $10 if from Central Auckland.
2 passengers $8 each.
3 passengers $6 each.

You need to be okay to run independently.

ABOUT ARTHUR LYRIARD
Born on 6 July 1917.
Arthur Lydiard was a New Zealand runner and running coach.
Arthur Lydiard created the "Waiatarua run" while he was experimenting with running.
He coached people of all levels, including Olympians Peter Snell, Murray Halberg, Barry Magee.
Died on 11 December 2004, aged 87, while on a running lecture tour.
Considered one of the greatest coaches of all time.
