WELCOME EVERYONE
Join us for a 2 week hiking trip, mostly in the South Island. Drive to Wellington, ferry to Picton, drive to Invercargill, then back to Auckland, hiking along the way. Includes Hump Ridge Track, Mt Somers, Ben Lomond, Robert Ridge. Staying mostly at backcountry huts, a couple of campsites and holiday parks. Regular hikers only.

ITINERARY
Sat 21st March - Leave Auckland. Begin Waihaha Hut overnight hike.
Sun 22nd March - Drive on ferry, sail to Picton.
Mon 23rd March - Begin Mt Somers (2 nights).
Wed 25th March - Begin Silverpeaks (2 nights).
Sat 28th March - Begin Hump Ridge Track (1 night).
Sun 29th March - Today is the longest hike, 36km.
Mon 30th March - Ben Lomond.
Wed 1st April - Begin Robert Ridge (2 nights).
Sat 4th April - Drive on ferry, sail to Wellington.
Details will be given to attendees.

COSTS
Car transport for ~3800km of driving.
Return Interislander refundable ferry ticket for 1 person and 1 car ~$600.
Backcountry Hut Pass $160 (lasts for 12 months).
Two DOC campsites total cost ~$25.
Two holiday parks campsites ~$55 (or upgrade to a cabin).

INTERISLANDER FERRY
Buy the "refundable" ticket, so that it's fully refundable if you need to cancel and so you can change the travel dates at any time for free.

SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Everything (including dates and accommodation) is subject to change.
The itinerary is likely to have too much walking, so we will adjust the trip as we go, e.g. some could replace a hiking day with a rest day, or some days may be able to have the walking distance reduced.

STATS
On average there is 5 hours of walking per day.
The shortest day has 2.5 hours of walking.
The longest day has 36km of walking and might take 14 hours (although some could change this to 19km).
