Enhancing Awareness & Spring Greens for Food, Medicine and Beauty.

Details
During this free event we will explore the nature of Nature along the French Creek Trail identifying the edible, medicinal, toxic or otherwise useful plants we find. The wild spring greens are cool weather friends and disappear when it gets warm so now is the time. Almost every week a new one will arrive and another will fade. Their intense nutritive value gave our ancestors the boost they needed to recover from a winter's deprivation. They are delicious but many are edible only in certain stages of their life cycle.
Us "civilized"' folk tend to forget how to see, hear, smell etc. in 3D. Too much screen time, not enough eyeball to eyeball. l'll teach attendees some techniques to enhance your sensory awareness.
Bring a notepad and camera (will help memorize the plants). Water is always a good idea.
It is the beginning of tick season so go off trail at your own risk. Check out the CDC website about ticks. https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/prevention/index.html
I spray my shoes, socks and lower pant legs with 0.5% permethrin then let it dry for a day. It lasts most of the season. Doesn't hurt to apply buy spray to skin too. Skin check when you get home.
There are risks being out in nature, but part of what I teach is how to stay safe. The most dangerous part of your day will likely be the drive there and back.
