Celebrate Presidents' Day by learning how to survive "interesting times".

Having collected various wild edible plants it's now time to figure out what to do with them. I have wild amaranth seed , hazelnuts, hickory nuts, beechnuts, foxtail seed, grapes, some purple-ish fuzzy stuff and un-wild basil all in various stages of processing. Come to my kitchen and we'll figure out ways to transform these "weeds" into nutritious delicious foods. After separating the "wheat" from the chaff we'll use primitive, old fashioned and modern devices to make flours, jams, candies, etc.

If you have any wild foods you've stashed away bring them over. For the more ambitious forager, I have seen crabapple trees with crabby apples still hanging on. If someone picks a quart or two of it can be changed into yummy stuff.

Parking is limited at Nature Studies HQ so French Creek Heritage Trail is listed for parking. Walk across the Iron Bridge and go to the first house on the right.

We'll talk about these plants qualities, growing habitats and identification.
Come out and learn, explore, cook and commune in community.
