We will be looking for edible, medicinal or otherwise useful plants walking on the Schyukll River Trail. (Clarification, the plants won't be walking, just the humans).

The Schyukill River trail is wheelchair accessible. We'll meet at the historic lock 60 just over Bridge Street from Phoenixville. We'll stroll and find dozens of plants and such for about an hour. I'll give a brief talk about the basics of how to not die in the woods. Then, if anyone is interested, we'll leave the paved trail and head into the woods along a creek for a new wet environment. If we have moderately fit attendees we'll then walk up to the top of the ridge overlooking the river eventually coming down near Blackrock Dam and stroll back to the parking lot.
As always, I suggest using insect repellent. Personally I treat my shoes and socks and sometimes cuff of my pants with an insecticide, permethrin. If you do this, let it dry out thoroughly for at least a day before putting on the clothes. It's effective for several months.

Bring water, maybe a knife, bug spray and a small bag for samples. I'll bring some sort of wild edible to sample.
Children MUST be accompanied by a sharp-eyed adult. The hillside portion of the walk will include roots, rocks and some inclines. I will not be responsible for injuries due to the effects of gravity or inattention. This walk has no charge.
Foul weather will cancel. Questions? call Hugh 610-324-8490
