Tour de Coalfields
Details
Come join us over Memorial Day weekend to run the 350 mile loop "Tour de Coalfields" in Southern West Virginia. The route contains some technical sections that will be better on smaller dual sport bikes.
Plan will be to basecamp at or around Riverchase Campgrounds on the New River in Sandstone, WV, near the center of the loop and set out each morning, returning back to camp in the evening. We will take time to see some old mining towns along the way.
Prior rides with this group or experience doing similar routes is required to attend. Contact me if unsure. This is not a beginner ride. All bikes must be plated and in good working order with fresh dirt-capable tires, chains in good condition and all lights working. Please bring a tool kit specific to your bike, spare tubes if you need them, and be capable of fixing flats and or having other arrangements in place should a mechanical issue arise. Make sure you have good rain gear and warm clothes! This is a “self guided” adventure and all riders should be able to follow the track on their GPS or phone app and navigate themselves should someone get separated. GPS tracks can be downloaded for free from:

I plan to drive up Friday afternoon the day before and setup camp but you're welcome to make whatever arrangements work for you. Ride starts Saturday morning the 25th and we should wrap up sometime Monday.
