Lisa Raleigh, RiverLink’s Executive Director, will lead an engaging discussion about the one-year post-Helene status of the French Broad River watershed. She'll discuss this from a flooding perspective and what that means for its future and ours, including how we must lean in and "own" this reality.

Lisa will also discuss the importance of our floodplains and riverbanks, misunderstandings about flood risk and catastrophic flooding, and ways we can build a more resilient French Broad River landscape. She'll share why restoring and protecting our rivers must remain central to our ongoing recovery.

Lisa Raleigh, PhD brings to RiverLink a lifetime shaped by the West — a hydrologist by training and a passionate nonprofit leader by calling. For the past four years, she has been honored to carry forward RiverLink’s mission and the extraordinary dedication of its staff and Board to the French Broad River watershed and the communities along its banks, especially amid post-Helene recovery.

This is the monthly meeting of the WNC Sierra Club. If you happen to be in Asheville, it is in Room 102 at UNCA’s Reuter Center on Campus Drive and simultaneously on Zoom. Use this link to watch online.
