ABSTRACT:
Our speaker will present an overview of the RMF control framework that addresses these four essential questions:
• What's the big deal about RMF? What is going on there?
• What do you need to succeed in Cyber Security?
• What are the standards? What are the tools?
• What are actual examples of security findings?
• The presentation will reflect these two realities that many people in our security community believe based on their various tough professional experiences:
• “Just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean that they really are not out to get you...”
• “No one likes the IRS Tax Auditor, and no one likes the Security Engineer who tells you what bad design decisions you made for your system.” [Shoot the messenger!]

PRESENTER BIO:
Kit (Christopher) Lueder is our volunteer presenter for this LifeBoat meeting. He is a dedicated infosec professional with 45 years in the Systems Engineering arena including eight years of direct experience in the field of Cyber Security. Kit earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science back when mainframes ruled the world. He is an Agile Career-ing person who reinvents his area of expertise every five years or so as the technologies evolved or became obsolete. He has mostly worked as a government contractor, serving as Programmer, Customer Support, Systems Engineer, Solutions Architecture, Security Analyst, and Information System Security Officer with various services/agencies. He holds the ISC2 CISSP and CompTIA Security+ certifications.

Everyone is invited to the 18 February 2023 free virtual meeting of our Information Systems Security Association Northern Virginia chapter (ISSA NoVa) Risk Management Framework (RMF) LifeBoat:
• 9:45 am – People may join the Zoom meeting
• 10 am – Presentation will begin
• 11:30-45 am – Presentation will end – open forum discussions/networking begins
• 12 pm – Planned meeting end, but host may extend meeting
