Attend the Grand Opening of the Jorgen's Hollow Campground & Hike on the NCT

The U.S. Forest Service will be hosting a Grand Opening of the new Jorgen's Hollow Campground in the Sheyenne National Grassland (SNG). The new campground, named after an early settler in the area, is located adjacent to the East Trailhead of the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCNST) on Richland County Road 23 about 35 miles southwest of Fargo, ND.

Campground features include trailer and tent pads, pit toilets, water, fire rings, and picnic tables. Hikers, cyclists, and equestrians who use the non-motorized North Country Trail will enjoy the convenience of the new campground.

The Forest Service will be providing lunch for Grand Opening attendees.

Following the Grand Opening, around 12:45 p.m., the Dakota Prairie Chapter of the North Country Trail Association will celebrate by hosting a guided 5-mile hike on the North Country Trail out and back from the new Campground. The hike will include a new section of the North Country Trail being developed by the Forest Service Trail Crew and the Dakota Prairie Chapter to link the SNG Oak Leaf Trail and the North Country Trail connection at the eastern boundary of the SNG.
