NE Dev #6 - Microservices and 3D Printing (not necessarily at the same time)

Details
The sixth installment of the NE Dev will be in Boho One on the evening of Thursday March 10th.
Microservices: Why Wouldn’t You?
Splitting monolithic systems into smaller micro-services improves autonomy and encapsulation. This gives us composable and re-usable components to build a service-oriented architecture. Real life isn't clean and tidy, and certainly doesn't care for shiny tech. This talk explores the reality of working with micro-services, how we build new ones, how we break apart monoliths, and what side-effects there are to manage.
Almost Useful: An introduction to 3d printers
Covering the basics of the technology, what they can do for you, and why you almost certainly shouldn’t buy one (yet)
Short talks
Small footprint JavaScript
Tired of bloated code written in mainstream over-engineered frameworks? Long digest cycles and poor performance... Tempted to just go Vanilla, but then worried you'll lose it all? In this talk we'll explore writing JavaScript that is performant, small and can leverage micro frameworks that are surprisingly feature rich.
Hacking Modern Multicopters
Building small multi-motor vehicles is cheaper and easier than it's ever been and with modern controllers and radios it's never been more hackable. In this 5 minute talk Chris will explain the basics and show you how to get off the ground.
Plus as always drinks and pizza.
