Focused conversation: Tech writers are user advocates

Details
It's time to reconnect with other documentarians over a beverage of your choice! Join us for a focused and friendly conversation on user advocacy. Attend for as long as your schedule allows. Our goal is to give you an opportunity to support and network with each other.
As technical communicators, we are well-placed to advocate for the users we write product documentation for. We ask questions about how the product works: What do our users need to know? What is the best way to provide the information? How can we accommodate different skill and experience levels?
We also think about how we can make sure that our user’s experience is positive and successful.
Technical writing is a pathway to advocate for our readers. Let’s walk together on the journey as we talk about user advocacy skills and strategies that contribute to better product designs, excellent docs, and a world-class user experience.
- What are some of your favorite examples of successful user advocacy, either from your own work or from others?
- How do you suggest changes in a way that makes people want to listen?
- We’ve all been inspired by colleagues and mentors. Share a user advocacy technique you’ve learned from someone else.
- Is there an improvement you want to make for the sake of your users? What is it, and what are the blockers?
Bring your questions and thoughts, and we’ll share knowledge as well as get to know each other.
We'll use Zoom for this social. Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link here in the event description.
