NearByAlkebulan serve as an exclusive events guide exploring Houston’s Africa - connecting African-led, African-inspired, and African-adjacent events with the businesses and community members who want to be part of them. We help small businesses, vendors, and sponsors get in front of their ideal audience while giving the community access to curated and verified events that celebrate African culture.
We’re looking to meet:
-Business owners, entrepreneurs, and creatives
-Vendors who want to sell at events that reach the African diaspora and adjacent communities or general attendees.
-Sponsors who want brand visibility in African cultural spaces.
-Community members who enjoy African and diaspora-centered events, music, food, and culture, and want access to ticket discounts and insider opportunities.
By sharing events with you, we will:
-Share exclusive NearByAlkebulan-curated and verified African-inspired events happening in Houston.
-Connect vendors and sponsors to opportunities where the demographics align with their target audience.
-Provide flyer distribution services through on-ground mobilizers who represent businesses at events.
-Help businesses RSVP to vendor opportunities and navigate registration.
-Offer unique ticket promotions and discount codes for attendees to enjoy paid events.
-Build bridges between businesses, cultural organizations, and the African diaspora community.

Small-group conversations on Immigration, Education, and Economic issues - practical, local, and solution-oriented. - Democracy in Action: The Great Political Quiz (12:00–1:00 PM):
A fun, interactive way to explore perspectives and sharpen your civic literacy. - Networking Lunch (12:00–1:00 PM):
Connect with neighbors, leaders, and partner organizations. Bring business cards and brochures to share.

The 12th Annual Houston AfriFEST is a vibrant showcase of African arts, food, music, and community that draws thousands of people from across the Greater Houston area. With over 4,000 people registered this year, this festival is a can’t-miss cultural experience for families, friends, and community members alike.
What to Expect:
- The Africa Zone – discover the diversity of the continent in one place
- Food from across Africa – enjoy dishes from Kenya, Senegal, Jamaica, Nigeria & more
- Main Stage Performances – Congolese folklore, Eritrean cultural dance, Nigerian drumming, Burundian music, South African Zulu dance, reggae, R&B, Afrobeats, jazz, and more
- African Market – shop local and international vendors
- Children’s Safari – fun activities for kids
- Community Vibes – connect with cultural groups, nonprofits, and neighbors
This year’s festival is proudly supported by an award from the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and the Houston Arts Alliance.
