NAMC Houston’s 2nd Annual Civic Day
Purpose: Celebrate civic pride, deepen local government awareness, and equip our community with practical ways to make positive change.
NAMC Houston’s Civic Day brings together journalists, civic leaders, and community advocates for a hands-on morning of learning, dialogue, and action. Whether you’re new to local engagement or already active, you’ll leave with clearer pathways to influence policy, support neighbors, and strengthen our city.
What to Expect
- Civic Voices Panel (10:00–11:00 AM):
Fresh insights on community engagement, local policy challenges, and how everyday citizens can influence change - featuring KPRC’s Rilwan Balogun, Robert Nnake, Odus Evbagharu, and Obes Nwabara. Open audience Q&A included. - Breakout Sessions (11:00 AM–12:00 PM):
Small-group conversations on Immigration, Education, and Economic issues - practical, local, and solution-oriented. - Democracy in Action: The Great Political Quiz (12:00–1:00 PM):
A fun, interactive way to explore perspectives and sharpen your civic literacy. - Networking Lunch (12:00–1:00 PM):
Connect with neighbors, leaders, and partner organizations. Bring business cards and brochures to share.
