Online event
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84209838200
Talks are in English

Intro:
The number of new published papers in this field is booming during last 10 years and it's not easy to cope with it and stay up-to-date, even within a specific narrow domain of interest.
Eddie Smolyansky co-created Connected Papers to solve some common problems he encountered with his research teams, trying to identify relevant papers to read. In this presentation, he'll share highlights from his research on how to efficiently identify and consume academic papers. After that Eddie will demonstrate Connected Papers, a free tool that has amassed a big following within months of its launch in June 2020. In the last part of the meetup he'll share the vision on future opportunities for tools engaging with scientific literature (spoiler: it's social).

Agenda:

18:00 - 18:30 Working with papers 101

18:30 - 18:50 Connected Papers: visual discovery of related papers

18:50 - 19:10 What's next? A vision of a social platform for science

19:10 - 19:30 Discussion and Q&A

Speaker:
Eddie Smolyansky is the CEO and cofounder of Connected Papers.

Earlier he was a computer vision engineer in CorePhotonics, working on the first multiple-lense smartphone cameras. Eddie holds a B.Sc. in EE and a B.Sc. in Physics from the Technion (and a half finished M.Sc in Computer Vision from TAU), and served in unit 8200 as a researcher in the IDF.

In his spare time you will find Eddie giving guest lectures at the Deep Learning course of Y-DATA, reading about rationality and thinking about AI tools to improve society.
