What we’re about
Calling all open minds. Being a democrat, independent, or social liberal and living in the North Atlanta suburbs, can bring on feelings of isolation. Regardless what your walk in life, if you are an upbeat and active and enjoy making like-minded friends, discussing politics, business, hobbies, dining out, or just attending a fun event, you are welcome to join. We want you for your uniqueness.
We are about transcending rigidity, religion, nationality, color or sexual orientation. "Needles" will definitely find this group welcoming and a breath of fresh air in the conservative south.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Eastside Beltline - Sunset and DinnerAtlanta Beltline Eastside Trail, Atlanta, GA
Please join me for a fun walk on the Eastside Beltline.
We will be meeting at the corner of 10th and Monroe right in front of Park Tavern Restaurant. From there we will walk down the beltline through the Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park while enjoying art on the beltline. We will view 3 tiny doors and the only giant door created by the tiny door people. We will pass by the location of the original Atlanta Baseball stadium where the Georgia crackers played before Turner Field was built and view the old historic 100 year old magnolia tree. We will do a quick trek down to Krog Street tunnel which is over a century old and connects Inman Park and Cabbage town and shows graffiti by artists. This tunnel is a free speech space where anyone is allowed to paint. From there we will head back the way we came stopping for dinner somewhere. Krog street market has several restaurants under one roof but is sometimes hard to get in on a Friday so we may end up at Bell St Burritos or something. Please be flexible.
Total distance for this walk is approx 6 miles all on concrete with no elevation. Please be sure you can keep a steady pace for 6 miles. This is not a fast fitness walk but not a stroll either. Id like to stay together as a group if possible.
Walk is in sun (no shade) so please bring a hat or sunscreen if you are sun sensitive.
PARKING.......There is a paid parking lot just behind Park Tavern. Sometimes it is $5 and sometimes it is more depending on if they are having an event. It can be up to $20 at times. There is also plenty of side street parking BUT please take note of the parking signs. There are places that are restricted to residents only and they do ticket and the tickets are not cheap. Also, do NOT park in the shopping center next to the beltline they do boot cars.
Please allow yourself enough time to find a spot to park and meet us at the corner of 10th and Monroe Street.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes, water to stay hydrated and money for dinner.
