Harvest Potluck Picnic and Basil Tasting (FREE!)
Details
Some of you know that the Hill Country Cultural Cooking Club exists as an extension of NEO's diversity appreciation initiative, celebrating each other's cultures. This includes not only world cultures but the variety of American regional cultures. NEO has an Urban Learning Garden at Sunshine Community Gardens, and we serve as the community engagement arm of Sunshine.
Please join us for the Harvest Potluck Picnic and Basil Tasting event we are hosting at the garden on Saturday, October 18th from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. This potluck will feature dishes that highlight basil. If you have a great dish that fits the bill, please bring it. But we won't turn away ANY delicious dishes you bring.
If you don't have time to cook, feel free to pick something up from the store.
NEO grows more than a dozen varieties of basil in our Urban Learning Garden at Sunshine. For the basil tasting, NEO will provide a large variety of basil for everyone to taste so you can really distinguish the varieties from one another. Then, vote on your favorites so we can be sure to grow them again next year. NEO will even bring Basil Butter Cookies to demonstrate how basil can be used outside of savory dishes.
As always, well-behaved canines and kids are welcome to attend. See you there!
FYI, there is a good restaurant supply place nearby with great kitchen tools and equipment in case anyone wants to go visit that store while you're in the area.
