I am writing to update you on what has been going on with the 99ers over the off season and let you know what is up for the coming year.
First and foremost I want to send a HUGE thank you to Tom Chambers and Walter Gunter for really stepping up and helping out this off season. With over a dozen rides on the calendar while there is still 6” of snow on the ground I am confident with will have a great season filled with rides for everyone. There are rides already for every skill level and I am certain that we will add even more before the rubber hits the road. Both of these great leaders have also started some great discussions about maintenance, new bikes, products and events; a plethora of info for all. In addition Tom is leading some great training sessions on group riding and leading group rides. While I could not make it to the first class I am certain that there are plenty of great lessons to be had for riders of all levels. This is a great way to knock some of the cobwebs loose as we get closer to riding time. As well this is a super way to get pointers on how to lead rides and what goes into a well organized event. Again, thank you to both of you for really helping out while I dealt with some non-group issues. Your assistance was and is invaluable to keeping our group great!
With that said it seems like a great segue into my annual shout out for leaders. We are always looking for folks who want to step up and help out the group by hosting rides and events (including leading, sweeping and organizing). If you are interested in helping out just drop me an email and we can talk about what it takes. Hosting and organizing helps to give back to the group and it is a bunch of fun too. So drop me a line and let’s keep things going.
This year we have a bunch in the works. There will be many of the “standard” rides that we have had in the past as well as some new ones. There are already a few overnight events, some high skilled events and some way cool destinations. We will be adding more soon. I will be bringing back the scavenger hunt and party as well as Easyriders Marietta Rally. I know the other organizers have more great ideas as well. But don’t leave things up to us. If you have an Idea for a ride or event, even if you don’t want to host it (or want some help in hosting) just get in touch with one of us and we will help you get things set up.
We also have a lot of great sponsors and perks offered to 99ers. Just click on the “sponsors “ button from the home page and you will find a bunch of great vendors who offer discounts to our members. There are deals on everything from CCW classes to home construction; from custom bike LEDs to custom Tattoos we have a bunch of folks who will give you discounts all as part of your membership dues. Oh…yeah… that is still FREE!
Do you like how I stuck that in there just so I can move on to my annual plea for donations? Yes folks the 99ers has always been and will always be free to join and free to be a member. It is not, however free to run. As organizers we do incur costs in creating and hosting events. These costs come out of our pockets. I simply ask that if you see a value in the club approach me or another organizer and make a donation to keep the group going. Remember anything helps and we truly appreciate any donations. This money goes right back into the club to pay for the web site and other expenses involved in running the group and hosting our events.
If you have any other questions, comments, requests or anything else feel free to email me and I will get back to you as quick as I can.
Thanks again for staying loyal to the Northcoast 99ers and keeping our group strong, friendly and drama free. I am praying for warmer weather so I can see you all on the road.
