Family Camping/Kayaking 101 Weekend!

We are meeting at Galveston Island State Park at 10 AM on Saturday morning for orientation. NEO is teaming up with Texas Parks and Wildlife to give people their first chance to experience camping and kayaking in the great outdoors. This program is meant to get people into the state parks that normally would not have the opportunity to do so.

Join NEO for a fun-filled weekend designed to help your family discover the joys of camping and Texas State Parks. Thanks to the Texas Outdoor Family program, all camping gear and equipment required for an overnight stay at the park are included! Each large tent sleeps up to 6 family members. Just bring bedding, pillows, and food.

Are you a family who has never taken a camping trip together? Or has your family been held back from the joys of camping due to financial concerns? This is your chance to get a crash course in camping, spend quality time as a family, and create lifelong memories.

The basic camping equipment needed for the weekend will be provided. Attendees are expected to provide sheets, blankets, food and personal items. This program will provide you with an opportunity to enjoy all of the following activities at your upcoming event. You are also encouraged to explore the park on your own, creating your own adventure along the way. All activities are subject to weather conditions.

Participants will learn the basics of setting up camp, outdoor cooking, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and more.

If you are a family of 1-2 adults with children, the cost is $25. You may RSVP for 2 people and change the amount you pay to $25. Then just post how many children you will be bringing. If you are a family with more than 2 adults attending, please pay $10 for each additional adult. Thank you!
