Brazos Bend Family Camping, Hiking, and Biking
Details
Enjoy a weekend of camping, hiking, biking, nature photography, and more! We will provide large tents, cots or sleeping mats, cooking gear, and bikes. We will have a large group campfire with s'mores on Saturday night. We may also bring out a telescope if we have clear skies.
After registering here, be sure to put your family's info on the roster we have to give to the park. Thank you! https://forms.gle/gdapHmWjBXtZ89RAA
When you arrive, stop at the park headquarters, and let the staff know that you are part of the NEO/TOF camping program. They will direct you to our camp area near the restrooms at Hale Lake.
We will have camp packed up by 11am on Sunday morning, but you may enjoy the park for the rest of the day if you like.
Your rsvp fee covers the use of all equipment, park entrance fees, and camping fees. One fee covers one family or tent. A family is a maximum of 5 people (up to 3 adults with at least 1 child). Many of our events are dog-friendly, but pooches need to stay home for this one.
Even though the $35 reservation payment option says Paypal, it will let you pay with a debit or credit card if you like. NEO is a nonprofit that does a ton of great work in schools and communities, so if you would like to donate an additional amount, just change your dollar amount accordingly.
The tents are large two-room tents and will sleep 5 comfortably. You will have access to running water, electricity, bathrooms, and showers.
You will need to check in at the park headquarters. Let them know you are camping with NEO and TOF, and they will give you directions to our campsites.
During the course of this event, participants will be taught how to pick a good campsite, how to pitch a tent, some wildlife identification, and a few more goodies.
Please bring whatever food you need for your family. Bring a packed lunch for Saturday afternoon. We will have stoves and a campfire available for cooking over on Saturday night. For Sunday morning we will provide boiled water for coffee, oatmeal, etc, but we will not be cooking food on stoves or on a campfire so we can focus on getting camp picked up and doing a last fun activity.
Bring plenty of water and snacks for hiking, biking, etc. Other items: toiletries, medications, camp chairs, clothing layers, swimwear, sleeping bags or blankets, flashlights or headlamps, comfy hiking shoes, earplugs in case of snorers, sunblock, and bug spray. I will bring some dough bait for fishing, but feel free to bring whatever other bait you like.
For dinner on Saturday, kabobs, hot dogs, brats, etc. are super tasty and easy. You can also wrap meats and veggies in tin foil to cook in the campfire. NEO will provide supplies for s'mores and a group campfire Saturday night.
