Volunteers - Fresh Air Career Day at Ryan Middle School

Come volunteer at our Fresh Air Careers event as a presenter for your own profession or as an assistant to one of the other presenters doing things like teaching native wildlife education, archery, fishing, and a lot more! Presenters offer a fun activity for the students and talk about their jobs, how they got them, and what their educational backgrounds are.

NEO's Fresh Air Career Day Events highlight careers that don't lock kids in a cubicle all day. That doesn't mean you have to be a parks employee. It is ANY career that lets you breathe some fresh air. Some of our past presenters include:

• Boat builder
• Airplane pilot
• Large animal veterinarian
• Photographer
• Professional fisherman
• Parks personnel
• Drone pilot
• Law enforcement
• Farmer
• Beekeeper
• Zoo community outreach specialist
• Outdoor event leader

Our Fresh Air Career Day events focus on 3 things:

1. Teaching about careers that involve time outdoors or that are conservation/green-oriented careers.
2. Careers cover all educational backgrounds... not just 4 year and higher degrees.
3. Presenters are diverse and reflect the diversity of the student body they are presenting to.

These are fun and very rewarding events that really make an impact on students. Students walk away knowing about new, inspiring, and rewarding career options that require a variety of educational or life experiences and that can provide great pay and benefits. In communities where many kids know from a young age that they probably won't get to go to college, these events can be life-changing.
