Blueberry Hike at Hickory Run State Park
Details
Please join me on a .... you know ....10 mile hike in Hickory Run State Park. Joanna and I hiked there about 7 years ago on the 4th of July and discovered a few trails that were loaded with blueberry bushes. That discovery led to our ... well ... sort of annual blueberry hike. Our hike begins on the Manor House Trail ...... Please note that this is a departure from previous Blueberry Hikes. We will meet at the Fireline Trail Parking lot .... We'll continue on the Fourth Run Trail to the Stage Trail where we we'll find blueberry bushes that are 5 to 8 feet tall, providing easy pickins for bending adverse foragers. After a side trip through a quarter mile long rhododendron tunnel .... the likes of which you have never seen before ...... we will return to the Manor House Trail by way of the Saylorville Dam and the Ridge trail. There are a few short climbs but this is fairly easy hike. More importantly, your efforts will be rewarded with a bounty of fruit and a trek thru gorgeous, picturesque terrain.
