Do you want to start speaking at tech events and meetups? Are you not sure where to start? This workshop is for you!
NerdLab YYC is building a supportive and inclusive culture in the Calgary tech community, and that means increasing the diversity of speakers at our local tech events. If you're a member of an underrepresented group in tech, this event is especially for you.
This is a hands-on and collaborative workshop where you’ll learn how to:
• Brainstorm ideas
• Write a proposal
• Outline a talk
• Develop awesome slides
• Present your talk
During this workshop, you’ll create and present a short presentation (“lightning talk”) that is three minutes or less.

Who Should Attend
This event is for beginners. If you’ve never spoken at an event before or have very little experience, you should attend this workshop.
If you already have experience speaking at tech events or conferences, this workshop isn’t for you. If you’d like to help out and mentor new speakers, contact NerdLab YYC to see if you’d be a good fit as a teaching assistant.
This workshop is for anyone speaking at tech events, not just people giving technical talks.
