The Long Walk is a 1979 dystopian novel by Stephen King under his pseudonym Richard Bachman, about 100 teenage boys who must maintain a speed of four miles per hour while walking along a highway. If a boy falls behind for more than 30 seconds, he receives a warning; three warnings result in the boy being shot and killed by soldiers. The competition continues until only one boy remains, who wins anything he desires.
