Detroit Zoo Visit - Nerdy Queer Club of Metro Detroit

Details

Let’s check out the Detroit Zoo! Meet some new friends, hang out with some cool animals, and get outdoors! It will likely still be very hot and sunny, so consider bringing water, sunscreen, and anything you need to stay cool. There will be some stops along the way where we can take breaks in air conditioning.

When:
We’ll meet at 9:30 right in front of the train station. Look for a person holding the rainbow umbrella. We’ll start walking around soon after. It will be difficult to find us if you’re running late, so recommend giving yourself some extra time. We’ll officially end our visit around 1:00, but you’re welcome to hang out as long as you’d like of course!

Admission:
Attendees will need to purchase admission on their own at the entrance or on the website. Like many museums and attractions in the area, if you think you will visit the zoo again anytime in the next year, it can actually be much cheaper in the long run to buy an annual membership.

Accessibility:

  • Accessible entrances
  • Typically mild volume levels, with quiet spaces available
  • Might be crowded
  • Some gender neutral restrooms
  • You can bring in your own food
  • Indoors/outdoors
  • The Detroit Zoo has detailed accessibility info on their website. If you have other questions, please feel free to reach out to me and I will do everything I can to get answers.

To ensure everyone has a positive experience, all attendees agree to follow all laws, event location policies, and group rules:

  • Look out for your safety and the people around you. Like, don’t climb on stuff even if it looks really fun. Don’t accidentally out someone. Stay home if you are sick.
  • Be respectful and support an inclusive space for people of all genders, races, disabilities, etc. Refer to people with the correct names, pronouns, and language. Don’t assume, just ask!
  • Be over the age of 18. For some events (INCLUDING THIS ONE), parents with young children will be welcome to bring their kiddos as guests, but they must provide constant supervision and ensure all rules are followed. Check each individual event page for more information.
  • Not hold event organizers liable in the unfortunate case of injuries, illness, lost or stolen items, or other harm.
