What we’re about

This group is for nerdy queer women and non-binary folks to hang out and make friends in a relaxed and fun kind of way. By queer we mean: lesbian/gay, bisexual/pansexual, transgender, genderqueer/non-binary/gender non-conforming, intersex, asexual, and undecided—or LGBTQIAU for short. If you don’t identify as 100% heterosexual and/or cisgendered, that includes you too. People who are questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity are also welcome!

When we say nerdy, we also mean geeky or dorky. We like things like:

  • sci-fi
  • fantasy
  • crafts
  • knitting
  • physics / chemistry / biology
  • computer sciences
  • programmer jokes
  • puns
  • delicious teas
  • comics
  • Ghibli movies
  • video games
  • tabletop RPGs, like Dungeons & Dragons
  • and so much more!

We are a diverse group of people of all sorts of nationalities, largely between 20 and 40 years of age, and might have just arrived in the Netherlands, have been living here for some time now, or have lived here for all of our lives. We like nerdy/geeky/dorky things, but we organise events surrounding all sorts of activities.

Past events include:

  • a guided tour through Artis on Homosexuality in the Animal Kingdom
  • hiking / biking
  • movie nights / cinema outings
  • dinner / dim sum
  • board games / chess and Go
  • discussion afternoon
  • museum visits
  • arts & crafts

Members are encouraged to organise events they would like to see happen. Although we are largely concentrated in the Amsterdam area, if members would like to host events in another area that is always possible. In addition to our various events, we aim to have a laid-back meeting in a café every once in a while, to chat over drinks (without alcohol and with) and meet new people. If this sounds like you, we’d love to meet you. We have new joiners all the time, so feel free to join us!

Note: This group is open only to people who identify as female and/or non-binary who are 18+. If you’re not sure this group is for you, please contact the group organisers.

Please also take a moment to acquaintance yourself with our Group Etiquette and Guidelines, that includes our:

  • RSVP etiquette,
  • Safety of our members and zero tolerance,
