Welcome to the March Meetup

Details

Welcome!

Reserve the date for our .Net Skåne March meetup. This time at the Barkfors offices in Malmö(Hyllie)!

Agenda:

  • Benchmarking and Writing High-Performance Code (Aram)
Performance is often a critical factor that can determine the success of an application. Benchmarking in .NET allows developers to measure the performance of their code precisely, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring optimal efficiency.
This session will guide you to understand what benchmarking is, an intro to BenchmarkDotNet, common performance pitfalls, and optimisation techniques.
  • Demystifying F# by comparing with C#. (Mats Alritzson)
Discover F# through the lens of familiar C# examples. This session focuses on key F# concepts like currying, partial application, and the compose operator (">>"). Perfect for C# developers, we'll explore F#'s functional programming paradigm, making it easier to appreciate and get started with F#. By comparing side-by-side examples, you'll gain a solid understanding of F#'s unique features.
  • Railroad Oriented Programming in C# (Johan Olsson)
A functional programming pattern to stream line error handling. You treat the 'happy path' and 'error path' as two parallel tracks. This pattern originates from F# but can be applied to other languages. We will take a deep dive, explore this pattern and see examples of an implementation in C#.
  • Open discussion

About the speakers:

  • Aram Albaradie
.NET developer at Barkfors specialising in backend development, cloud solutions and system integrations. I have worked on performance-critical projects where speed and efficiency were crucial to success. Benchmarking has been an invaluable tool for analysing and optimising code performance in these projects, and I am excited to share insights into .NET benchmarking techniques that have proven essential in my work.
  • Mats Alritzson
Experienced Software Developer working as a consultant at LivingIT and co-organizer of .NET Skåne. He is also in the Øredev program committee for the Cloud & DevOps track.
  • Johan Olsson is a software architect/developer with extensive experience within the IT-industry. He started coding back in the dark ages (the early eighties) and hasn’t stopped yet. Learning new things and sharing knowledge is as important to him as beer. Life is meaningless without it.
