Roundtable: How Nonprofits Can Get Over the Fear of Asking for Money
Tech Networks of Boston (TNB) exists to provide integrated and managed technology services to nonprofits and other mission-based organizations, and it’s also our privilege to offer you professional development opportunities through our Roundtable series. Our featured guest at this session will be Barrie Atkin, the president of Atkin Associates. The topic will be how nonprofit professionals can get over the fear of asking for money from grant makers and donors. This session will be held at EmPath, from 10:00am - 11:30am on October 3, 2018. Here’s what Barrie says: “Does your organization need to raise money? Do you have board members or staff that are uncomfortable asking for money – or perhaps fearful or even panicked? Does your organization have difficulty getting people to make fundraising commitments or follow through on them? “This session will address the many reasons behind the fear of asking and how individuals can overcome such fears. Interactive tools and techniques will be presented to help individuals become more comfortable asking for money. Strategies and solutions for how organizations can train and develop volunteer fundraisers will also be offered. The session will also include some best practices for fundraising communications. "As a result of this session, individuals should have more confidence in their ability to ask for money; organizations will have more strategies to help staff and volunteers ask for money. “This is for any organization that utilizes volunteers that need training in asking for money, with special emphasis on small and medium sized organizations.” This workshop is a $100.00 value. However, full scholarships are available to qualified employees of nonprofit organizations! Because of the high demand for seats at this session, we are asking you to apply to participate. Our committee will select the applicants who are most likely to benefit from the session, and offer them both scholarships as well as seats for this Roundtable. Please apply by using the link below by Friday, August 31st: We will notify all applicants of acceptance status on Wednesday, September 5th. Please note that in order to attend, you MUST apply for a seat, receive an acceptance, and then register via Eventbrite. It would break our hearts to turn you away at the door for lack of an Eventbrite acceptance, so please follow these guidelines.
