April 26 Workshop: Crafting Powerful Stories

Details

Join us for a hands-on workshop with experts where you will learn how to craft powerful stories.

Date: Tuesday, April 26
Time: 6:30-8:30 pm
Location: Vanguard Communications, 2121 K St NW #650
Cost: Free, but space is limited and RSVP is required.

We will be breaking into four groups, each of which will be led by a facilitator. Participants will share stories within their groups, and then each group will select a couple of stories and discuss how best to tell them. Then someone from each group will tell a story to the larger audience.

Please come with stories to share!

Before we break into groups, Liz Norton (https://www.linkedin.com/in/liz-norton-2a54039), Executive Director of Stone Soup Films, will give brief opening remarks. She will talk about practical considerations like figuring out what to shoot, interview best practices, lighting best practices, and the best ways to use the camera you may already have (smartphone, consumer video camera etc).

Facilitators

This NetSquared event is part of TechSoup’s storytelling campaign, Storymakers 2016 (http://www.techsoup.org/community/community-initiatives/storymakers-resources), which is focused on building capacity for NGOs to use storytelling to create assets for fundraising and advocacy. TechSoup will be announcing its annual competition shortly, and we encourage everyone to consider submitting a video.
